Like many, reality has been too 'real' for the women of WHC. Basic aspects of modern lifestyle -- health, education, housing, hygiene, nutrition, electrical power, transport & communication --- are beyond reach for most of the women.Thanks to their association with WHC, the women have put skills and hard work together to improve day-to-day living.
Shahida, Sunita, Ruksana, Noorjahan, Durgabati, Sumitra, Mehrunnisa, Bhaagirathi, ...... are just a few names in the long list of these women who have not let their socio-economic condition deter their will-power.
One of them has been abandoned by her husband, one a young widow, one unable to marry because she is the main provider of her family, one has vision only on one eye but is the main earner in a joint family, one's husband can but would not work to earn, ......
The young widow from "Siyaan" village had not had money to arrange a funeral, the would-be bride's family from "Beluti" village could not buy her a wedding sari, the woman from "Aamodpur" was finding it hard to finance her grandchild's education, the teenage boy was in tears to pay the hospital fee for her mother suffering from jaundice, ...... WHC has always been with these women and many more sharing their moments of grief and joy.
